The defaults are dated source checks, not permanently current quotes. OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, and Perplexity separate consumer subscriptions from API usage. Google AI is for personal Google accounts, plan availability and benefits vary by region, and exact annual checkout prices were not used where Google did not publish one stable US total. OpenAI API cache, long-context, processing-tier, and tool charges can alter the result beyond the standard text-token rates used here.

Is ChatGPT Plus cheaper than using the OpenAI API?
It depends on the workload. ChatGPT Plus is a fixed-price interactive product, while API usage is metered by tokens and other billable features. This calculator shows the token-only API break-even point for the assumptions you enter; the two products are not feature-equivalent.
Does a ChatGPT Plus subscription include OpenAI API usage?
No. OpenAI documents ChatGPT subscriptions and API usage as separate products with separate billing. Add both costs when a workflow uses the ChatGPT app and an API-powered automation.
How much is Claude Pro?
Anthropic listed Claude Pro at $20 when billed monthly or $200 billed up front for an annual subscription when these rates were checked. The annual equivalent is about $16.67 per month. Taxes and regional pricing may differ.
Is a Gemini subscription the same as the Gemini API?

Are Perplexity Pro and Perplexity API credits the same purchase?

How is the OpenAI API estimate calculated?
The calculator multiplies requests by input and output tokens, adds the retry percentage, and applies the editable per-million-token rates. It does not add cached input, tools, images, audio, storage, long-context uplifts, or priority processing.
Can I use this calculator for a team?
Yes. Enter the number of paid seats for the subscription routes and the team's total monthly API workload. Team and business plans may have minimum seats, different privacy controls, and different prices, so replace the default individual-plan rates when needed.
Are taxes and regional prices included?
Only if you enter a tax or regional uplift. Published USD list prices can exclude applicable taxes and can vary by country, currency, app-store billing, contract, and promotional terms.
